Notice of Hearing
Public Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Kansas Development Finance Authority (the “Authority”) at 9:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021, in the conference room in the offices of the Authority, 534 S. Kansas Ave., Suite 800, Topeka, Kansas, concerning a plan of finance involving the issuance by the Iowa Finance Authority of one or more series of qualified 501(c)(3) revenue bonds in a maximum stated principal amount of $175,000,000 (the “Bonds”) for the purpose of making the proceeds of the Bonds available to Lifespace Communities, Inc., an Iowa nonprofit corporation (the “Corporation”), to finance, refinance, and reimburse costs of life care communities for the Corporation, as further described in this public notice.
The Corporation expects to use a portion of the proceeds of the Bonds to (1) refinance all or a portion of the Authority’s Revenue Bonds (Lifespace Communities, Inc.), Series 2010S in the original and outstanding principal amount of $25,685,000, a portion of which was issued to finance and refinance the costs of additions, renovations, remodeling, equipping, and miscellaneous capital improvements to the Corporation’s life care community known as Claridge Court, located at 8101 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, Kansas, and including 129 independent living units and 45 skilled nursing beds; and (2) finance the costs of additions, renovations, remodeling, equipping, and miscellaneous capital improvements to Claridge Court in an amount not expected to exceed $3,000,000.
This public hearing does not impose any liability on the Authority or the State of Kansas but is an accommodation by the Authority to satisfy the requirements of Section 147(f) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended.
